For the Beauty there is in Silence

When the soul lies down in that grass
the world is too full to talk about.”
Rumi
“Silence is a source of Great Strength.”
Lao Tzu
“Blessed is the man who, having nothing to say, abstains from giving us wordy evidence of the fact.”
George Eliot, Impressions of Theophrastus Such
“In Silence there is eloquence. Stop weaving and see how the pattern improves.”
Rumi
“He who does not understand your silence will probably not understand your words.”
Elbert Hubbard
“Have you ever heard the wonderful silence just before the dawn? Or the quiet and calm just as a storm ends? Or perhaps you know the silence when you haven’t the answer to a question you’ve been asked, or the hush of a country road at night, or the expectant pause of a room full of people when someone is just about to speak, or, most beautiful of all, the moment after the door closes and you’re alone in the whole house? Each one is different, you know, and all very beautiful if you listen carefully.”
Norton Juster, The Phantom Tollbooth
I never knew so much could be thought of silence but from the time in the womb I heard voices and music and feelings, waves of pain and love tinted and weaved around me before me was known even to me…even then the silence was known in the quiet, restful breathing and beating of the heart…when all was still in the night, our heart music went on in silent reverie of love.

All beings desire love, yet love needs a peaceful heart and mind to grow and bear fruits.

A Sufi story

The Master or a Mulla in Persian was questioned by a man as he looked for a  lost key of his treasure outside his home, yet being questioned by a passer by who offered to help finding it, replied the key was lost inside the home.

Why look outside then? The man asked. The Mulla said  because it is light here and dark in the home…I cannot see. A bystander reasoned about bringing light within the house and look for the key.

Mulla laughed;  Indeed it is the simple question and simple answer which brings illumination” he said. So it is your inner life, I have seen you search on the outside but as you have learned here today, what you are seeking is not lost without, it has always been within.

Why then seek bliss in the outside world? Have you lost it there?
